Cabinet Reshuffle at GDance Productions

Helen Crocker updates us about the GDance Productions Team

 

Determined to not only to survive but thrive, GDance has been through its own version of a cabinet reshuffle recently to make us more sustainable.

We say GOOD BYE to Cath Wilkins as Director but HELLO Cath Wilkins as our consultant Development Associate focused on sector development.

Cath has led the company for the last 9 years overseeing its transition from a core funded County Dance Agency to a dynamic, punching well above its weight, project funded organisation with national strategic impact and considerable artistic output.

We say HELLO to Artistic Director Helen Crocker in her new leadership role with GDance. An artist with life-long poor mental health, Helen has been with the company for nearly 6 years re-orientating it toward production and strategic impact.

Formerly Co-founder & Co-director of Circomedia and widely acknowledged as the midwife of Aerial Dance in the UK, Helen has worked as performer, choreographer, director, course director, arts strategist and sometime arts nuisance across the dance, circus & outdoor work sectors. Helen has received national and international commissions for her work. We look forward to working with her in this dynamic new era of the company’s existence.

We also say GOOD BYE to Anita Syvret as Chair of GDance’s Board of trustees also for 7 years, Anita has worked with us enthusiastically & energetically during the transition period and now stands down as Chair but remains a trustee.

We say HELLO to Angela James as the new Chair of GDance. Angela has been with us for 12 years as a trustee and has a background in physical education.  She is excited to be overseeing the organisation’s ambitious new direction.

GOODBYE too to Karen Perrins GDance’s longest serving employee who has been with the company for 14 years! Karen and VIA our community dance company are moving across to Art Shape, our closest partner organisation, to help them expand their dance offer. Art Shape will support Karen as VIA’s Artistic Director to realise the company’s ambitions to become independent. HELLO to Karen again as we now work with her in a free-lance capacity starting with a project for young people with Type 1 Diabetes funded by Gloucestershire Cultural Commissioning Board.

HELLO also to Andy Woods who joins us as Temporary General Manager. Andy is the former founder & Director of both the Guildhall Arts Centre in Gloucester and Artrix in Bromsgrove and brings his considerable experience to support GDance’s new incarnation as a producing company.
